How to Reset the Nether in Minecraft

If you want to start the Nether dimension fresh without losing the rest of the world (Overworld and End), you can easily reset it separately. This guide shows you how.

Step by step: Reset the Nether

  1. Stop your Minecraft server from the control panel.

  2. Open the "Files" tab or connect to the server via FTP.

  3. Find and delete the following folder:

world_nether
  1. Once the folder is deleted, start the server again.

The server now automatically generates a new Nether dimension the next time players go through a Nether portal.

Important Notes

  • Only the Nether dimension is reset. The Overworld and End are not affected.
  • Player portals stay in the same location in the Overworld, but will lead to a new location in the Nether.
  • Always remember to back up your worlds before making changes.
