Getting Started with Your Satisfactory Server

This guide walks you through setting up your Satisfactory dedicated server, claiming it, and connecting with friends for the first time.

Prerequisites

  • An active Satisfactory server from SpillHosting
  • Satisfactory installed on your PC via Steam or Epic Games
  • Your server IP address and port from the control panel

Step 1: Start Your Server

  1. Go to panel.spillhosting.no
  2. Select your Satisfactory server
  3. Navigate to the Console tab
  4. Click Start and wait for the server to fully initialize

The first start takes longer as the server downloads required files and sets up the world.

Step 2: Connect to Your Server

  1. Launch Satisfactory
  2. Go to Server Manager from the main menu
  3. Click Add Server
  4. Enter your server IP and port (e.g., 123.456.78.90:7777)
  5. Click Confirm

Step 3: Claim Your Server

When connecting for the first time, you need to claim the server:

  1. After adding the server, select it in the Server Manager
  2. You'll be prompted to Claim Server
  3. Set an Admin Password — this gives you full control
  4. Give your server a Name
  5. Click Claim Server

Important: Keep your admin password safe. You'll need it to manage the server.

Step 4: Create or Load a Game

After claiming:

  1. Click Create Game to start a new world
  2. Choose your starting location on the map
  3. Select your session name
  4. Click Create and wait for the world to generate

Or if loading an existing save:

  1. Click Load Game instead
  2. Select your save file
  3. Wait for the world to load

Step 5: Join the Game

  1. Once the game is running, click Join Game in the Server Manager
  2. You'll load into the world
  3. Share the server IP with friends so they can connect too

Managing Your Server

Saving

  • The server auto-saves at regular intervals

Troubleshooting

Server Not Appearing

  • Make sure you're entering the correct IP and port
  • Check that the server is fully started in the control panel
  • Try restarting the server if it was recently updated

Connection Refused

  • Verify the server is running in the console
  • Ensure you're using port 7777 (default game port)
  • Check if the server finished loading completely

Poor Performance

  • Large factories with many machines can cause lag
  • Consider upgrading your server plan for more RAM
  • Spread production across different areas of the map
